SOUNDSCAPEpgh was a collaborative project exploring the relationship of sound to the urban environment. Located on the 900 block of Penn

Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh, 12 audio playback devices installed in trees continually broadcast sound works that address ideas of the city /

urban soundscape.  Artists from around the world contributed works and range from microscopic recordings of the growth of mold to compositions

built from field recordings of distant urban space, communicative works utilizing the voice and musical compositions addressing the urban

landscape.
